“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”

– Rachel Zoe

It feels like it’s been years since my last customer. I have been procrastinating, traveling and doing a whole lot of other things these past few months but I’ve decided to pull up my socks and complete “100 Happy Customers” project this year, Oh yes 2017 I’m coming to slay. Okie, now since I have set this overwhelming goal to complete the project this year, let me introduce you to Shalu Rita, my 5th Customer! Yay!!

I have been friends with Shalu for more than 3 years now. She is hard working, creative and extremely bright. She is also a fashion designer in the making; she studies at Army Institute of fashion designing.

Here are few things about her.

She loves prints, she has nothing but printed tops and dresses, and hence she didn’t want any prints from me.

She doesn’t own a lot of accessories, but she doesn’t hate it.

She loves achromatic colors, other favorites are shades of red and green.

She’s a college girl, studying fashion designing, which means she is always busy with assignments, projects or hanging out with friends, hence her style is always comfort casuals- Jeans/shorts and tops. She swears by “less is more” concept. Minimal style is what her clothes say without saying.

As for her personality, she’s definitely an ambivert, she can be outgoing and bold, but she can also be happy just by herself.

She wanted simple tops that can be worn to college.

Once I spoke to her and got to know her a little more, I came up with 3 designs (all solids). Firstly, I wanted to add layers to depict her personality and since she loves simple, I kept it that way. I selected colors that she would like and I liked as well. I did two layered tops and one peplum top. Go ahead and check it out.

I styled this top with a multi-coloured short skirt, a stone necklace, and black pumps to show her that a simple college top can be transformed to girls-night-out top.

I styled the below top with dark blue shorts, sandals and a bag for a fun college look.

The last one is styled with black pants, red necklace, and pumps for an elegant look.

It was so much fun designing for a college student. You can watch Shalu’s reaction on the video below.

I hope you liked the post, let me know if my designs did justice to Shalu’s likes and personality.
