If you follow fashion week then you know Paris Haute Couture 2017 just passed by and famous designers all around the world showcased their Fall collections on July 02 to 06th. It was a week to marvel at the work of the world’s greatest couturiers and how their teams of skilled artisans came up with such legendary designs.
There were some fabulous collections showcased but one of my favourite collection was from Fendi. In the words of Nicole Phelps from Vogue, “Karl Lagerfeld conjured a field of otherworldly flowers” and I couldn’t agree more with that statement. I also loved Giambattista Valli’s collection which was all about big-night dressing, it was a gateway to a fantasy runway, the dresses were impeccably lavished with crystal and embroideries but my favourite was the balletic tulle gowns. There were two dresses that caught my attention and I had to try my hand at their illustration. So, here you go, two illustrations, one from Fendi and one from Giambattista Valli.
Here is a fun fact, the velvet flowers on Bella Hadid’s sheer blue dress is made of shaved mink. Shaved mink is so fragile that it’s usually used in its natural state but for this collection, it was dyed and hand painted which is months or even years of hard work.
I absolutely love this balletic tulle gown, the way the silk chiffon is draped makes the gown look so graceful and versatile.
